We’re thrilled you’re interested in learning about our needs and will try to update this page as often as we can.
First and foremost, we’d ask you to pray for us. Without guidance from the Holy Spirit we cannot please God and we’d greatly appreciate prayer for the burden we carry as a leadership so that we can honour and glorify God in everything we do.
Second, we would love to receive words of encouragement from our brothers and sisters in the body of Christ. Please go to our contact page.
Finally, our churches operate in the poorest parts of Kenya, and so it’s not surprising we have great needs. Below is an outline of the main needs the Lord has placed on our hearts.
BIBLES
We have been blessed to receive many Swahili Bibles over the years by those called to support us, but as quickly as we receive them they are given out. We would, therefore, be greatly encouraged by any gifts toward the purchase of Bibles. In particular, we are currently looking to buy 500 bibles at an approximately cost of £3500 (or $4562). Thus a £100 gift will buy approximately 10 bibles which will probably be read and used by 50 or more people.
Food
At the end of 2021, God and our Christian brothers and sisters around the world blessed us by fund raising for £2,000 to help feed the hungry in our area. Meal costs as little as £1.97 ($2.44) for a bag of Maize with relish, and we’ve been carefully ensuring we use this money to help where it’s needed most. That means a £20 donation (or $26) will feed 10 people, £50 (or $65) will feed 25 people, £100 (or $130) will feed 51 people one meal. You can give either through Just Giving or through Stewardship (where your gift can be tax deductable in the UK and mean an extra 20% for the church)
Education
We understand that the way to improve lives and communities is through education. Pastor Joshua Kadenge is a great example of how education can not only help the individual and their families, but a good education can help impact the wider community. Therefore, we are committed to helping as many poor children get a good education. So far, we have sponsored 4 children through fundraising and church offerings. Two of them have finished form four and two are still in High School.
If you are interested in supporting a child’s education please support a charity called “Friends of Mikoroshoni Primary school” through the Just Giving page. This school provides a free education and a hot meal to the poorest children in Shanzu village. For more information go to www.mikoroshoniprimaryschool.org.uk/.
Building
Zion Celebration Churches meet in over 30 locations but have we have only one permanent building. Many of our churches are temporary structures where roofs do not protect members from weather conditions like rain, so meetings are often cancelled because of the weather. Therefore we would welcome any support to help build small shelters. With other more urgent priorities at the moment, we are not specifically looking to raise money for buildings at the moment despite the need. If you have a heart to help fund buildings for the people to meet, praise God and do His work, please send us an email through the contact us
