In November 2001, three men, Joshua Kadenge, James Garama and Julius Ziro, were sent by their church, to plant a new church in a rented hall. Together with the elders they agreed to appoint Joshua Kadenge, the pastor and effectively a new church was born. Operating under license from Celebration Centre for Christ Ministries in Kenya, the church moved to an unwanted rickety building.
However, in 2005, a group of girl guides came to help build a local school called Mikoroshoni Primary School (MPS) and during that time 30 of the students from MPS came to our church. Seeing our building was dangerous, they took photos and went home to raise £3,000 so the church could buy land in 2008. This is where the current Zion Celebration Church was built.
The church continued to grow and plant other churches until in 2013, the church was registered under it’s own license, Zion Celebration Church.
Currently, the church operates over 30 different locations, of which 18 locations are direct church plants from Zion Celebration Church. Only our headquarters has a permanent building, with the other locations being housed in temporary structures (that leak) and some of our churches meet outside, generally under trees.
