Zion Celebration Church in Kenya
Zion Celebration Church (ZCC) is a registered Christian denomination in Kenya, with 64 churches serving communities across a number of regions.
Our headquarters and home church are in Shanzu, near Mombasa City, where our lead pastor, Pastor Joshua Kadenge, is based.
Of the 64 churches, 45 were directly planted by Zion Celebration Church. The remaining churches are affiliated with ZCC and operate within the legal framework provided by the denomination. Affiliated churches are able to use ZCC’s constitution, registration certificate, church licence, church PIN and annual return documentation.
Leadership and Ministry
The main church in Shanzu is served by a team of pastors, including Reverend Michael Saroh and Reverend Sylvia Karisa. They help oversee ministry across four churches and organise teaching, baptisms, marriages, Communion and burials.
Pastor Joshua’s ministry takes him across the wider church network, where he leads and participates in pastors’ conferences, youth and women’s ministry, men’s fellowships, couples’ seminars and overnight prayer vigils. ZCC holds two overnight vigils each month.
Churches Organised into Zones
With churches spread across a large geographical area, ZCC is organised into zones to help provide pastoral oversight and maintain communication between the congregations and the headquarters.
The current zones are:
- Mombasa
- Tana River
- Kwale
- Kikambala
- Magarini
- Malindi South
- Malindi North
- Karimboni
- Malindi West
- Watamu
- Shakahola
Zone leaders provide monthly reports to the main ZCC church, helping to maintain communication, accountability and pastoral oversight across the growing network.
Church Buildings and Meeting Places
ZCC currently has four churches with permanent structures made with timber, concrete blocks and metal roof sheets.
Many of the other congregations do not yet have their own permanent buildings, and most currently meet under trees or in temporary meeting places.
Two ZCC churches, Makumba and Duke, have purchased land and are currently meeting under trees while they seek funding to build their church structures.
The need for suitable places for congregations to meet is one of the challenges that comes with the continued growth of ZCC. Details of current building and other practical needs can be found on our Our Needs page.
Serving the Churches and Their Communities
ZCC’s purpose extends beyond Sunday worship. Through its network of churches and pastors, the denomination seeks to strengthen local congregations, provide biblical teaching and training, share the Gospel and offer practical help to people living in some of the poorest communities in the areas where it ministers.
More than 60% of ZCC’s offerings are currently used for missions and practical ministry, including evangelism, conferences, seminars, feeding families in need and supporting the development of church buildings.
Our aim is to share the Gospel, strengthen churches and be a light to the communities we serve.
Supporting Zion Celebration Church
As the number of ZCC churches continues to grow, so do the opportunities to reach more people with the Gospel and strengthen the communities they serve.
If you would like to support the work of Zion Celebration Church, you can give through Stewardship in the UK, our JustGiving fundraising pages, or directly to the church in Kenya.
Your support helps ZCC continue its ministry across its growing network of churches and communities.
